About
Who is behind The Land Project?
The organisation was founded Philippe Brown, author and founder of ultra-bespoke luxury travel company Brown + Hudson and travel industry consultancy REVISIT.
He first travelled to Patagonia over 25 years ago and ate the fruit of the Calafate bush meaning he was destined to return. He’s spent time Patagonia regularly since and it’s one the places on the planet that makes him happiest.
The original vision for the project came back in 1999 when Philipe spent much of his time based different parts of Patagonia, Finland and Wyoming.
A friendship with Ana Saldia-Westerlund a member of the family that was one of the original pioneers and settlers of this part of Patagonia cemented his commitment to the idea. Anita was brought up in this beautiful part of Patagonia and she and her mother Esther ran the famous Hosteria Parador La Leona a short drive from Land Project Patagonia Reserve. When you hear stories about Patagonia’s most famous Lemon Pie or the equally amazing Rhubarb Cheesecake, these were both Anita’s creations.
The Land Project is Philippe’s vision of conservation, and broadening ownership and access to precious land in beautiful, remote and untouched parts of the world. By bringing together these unforgettable places, perfect for meditating and being close to nature, he has created a community of like-minded individuals.
Philippe values his time in nature and through The Land Project wants to give everybody an opportunity to own their own unique piece of land.
His vision was to preserve the world’s most beautiful landscapes and to encourage people to make them their own. Whether Finnish forests, beautiful Patagonian landscapes and the vast open expanses of Wyoming, Philippe has developed an organisation that combines the benefits of land conservation, democratised micro-land ownership and meaningful travel.
All Land Project locations allow owners to be close to nature, to share the great outdoors with friends and family and to build the Land Project community.
Central to The Land Project is the idea of giving everybody the possibility to own their own unique piece of land, 9 square metres or 96.9 square feet at a time.
The Land Project is a long-lasting self-sustained community that facilitates long-term collaboration of Land Project owners.

Have a purpose, a reason to travel
Research has shown that having something to look forward to has great benefits to positive mental health. Buying even just one small plot of land and planning to one day go there gives you something great to look forward to for an instant free dose of happiness.
Give back
Too often there’s a disconnect between travellers and the places they spend time in and the people they encounter there. In times of conflict or pandemic people serving the hospitality industry can suffer enormously. So to make a positive contribution each year the Land Project returns a percentage of its profits to social and conservation-focused charities wherever it operates. This ensures that your decision to buy and visit your land contributes positively to the wider landscape and to improved quality of life and opportunities for the least fortunate full-time residents.
Buy land, they're not making it anymore
You can buy small pieces of land from theland-project.org. We have taken photos of each unique piece of land and we sell them at a price that allows anyone to become a land owner. The centre point of each lot has been marked with GPS coordinates, so you know exactly which is yours and you find it when you'll visit your unique piece of land. You can also find it on Google Earth or via What3Words.
The land you acquire from The Land Project is real and lasting. Something that is yours for ever. Or it's something that makes your child learn something about nature and hopefully feel the value of being closer to nature. Or it may be an everlasting gift for a person important to you.
You may wish to visit your own land, stay a while, drink some of the purest water on earth or camp in the wilderness. Or just connect with nature and experience the feelings and benefits of nature through photos of views from your own lot without visiting it. Or you may want an item (what ever you wish) to be placed on your land.
But whatever you do with your piece of land, remember to respect the nature, and make the piece of land your peace of mind
